Pastor Bernie has been a minister for 32 years serving churches in Iowa, Alaska, Montana, and now in Siskiyou County California.

 

Siskiyou County is the fifth largest county in California but has only 44,000 people. It is a spiritually dark place with only 10% of the population as church going evangelicals. We are among the leaders in the country in per capital drug and alcohol abuse and in depression and attempted suicides. The economy is challenging due to the closing of all the lumber mills and the stopping of mining. Over 50% of the families receive some form of welfare aid. This is the population we serve.

 

The Big Springs Church is a group of 40 plus people seeking to reach the lost for Christ. The closest Christian Reformed Church is 250 miles away in Sacramento. In addition to pastoring the church, Pastor Bernie also works as a volunteer chaplain at a large California Department of Corrections Prison in Susanville, California.

 

Jaci is active in the ministry and works full time as a Registered Nurse at the local Hospital in Yreka, California. Pastor Bernie and Jaci have 3 married children and 5 grandchildren who are in Southern California, Denver, and soon to be Hershey, Penn.
