Sermon: Shining Like Stars – Part V
Philippians 2.12-19: By understanding Paul's playing off of Deuteronomy, we see the great confidence Paul has because of the coming of Christ. Moses had little confidence in the people, but Paul speaks of great confidence because of Christ and the coming of the Spirit. In Christ, we live in a completely different age and strength. It calls us to live confidently as we stay connected to the Word.

Sermon: Shining Like Stars – Part 2
Philippians 2.1-11: To know what it means to shine like stars, we first need to understand the glory of the light of Christ. For we follow from him. In ch. 2, Paul wants to highlight Christ's glory in his obedience to the Father, a willingness to give of himself in full obedience and not seek for himself glory. This is his glory, the cross, giving of himself, thinking of others before himself. This is our source of life.

Sermon: “Truth is Stranger than Fiction”
Matthew 27.62-28.15: The resurrection of Jesus is not an earthly imagined reality, but one that must be brought to us from heaven above. But, it also calls for us to believe heaven's witness, that gets passed onto the women, and then the disciples, and then the world. By believing this 'strange' truth, our lives become reoriented around what is real and lasting. In the hardship of this life and its letdowns, the resurrection reorients us around hope, light, and life evermore.

    Sermon: The Trial
Matthew 26.57-27.26: We have a longing for a true Judge deep in our hearts. Feelings of injustice well up within us when we notice something off. But as the true Judge came before us, the collective of humanity tried him unjustly and sentenced him to death. But Jesus accepts the unjust trial in order to establish justice into eternity. And in order to face the last judgment, we can have comfort if we are found in him as those who believe and are covered in his righteousness.

This hour is a dark hour that rattles them, but the words of Jesus about life also will be known. But now, Jesus must follow the path through the darkness, to bring the light to all who believe.
