Genesis 11.27-12.3: To get into Abraham’s call he receives, we consider the cultural background of where he came from. As we understand the historical and cultural context, we can better understand the character of God’s call upon him. What was Ur like, from where he was called? What was the world about at that time? What might it speak to us about our own situation?
