    Revelation 21.1-8: John is given for us a vision of that which is truly Real, the coming kingdom. It drives our hope as we live in this world littered with death and decay. But as those saved by Christ, we serve a witnesses to another world, a new world, one reborn to its original purpose of glory in worship to God. We live faithfully for Christ as we anticipate heaven coming down.

With this story of Jacob, we are confronted with this insecurity and God gives us a path through it. He opens heaven up so Jacob can see what is Real to guide him on his earthly and challenging journey. He goes forth in promise. So do we.

    Genesis 11.1-9: In Advent, we are awaiting heaven come down. We celebrate the coming of Jesus and anticipate him coming again. But we must resist the desire to reach heaven by our own strengths and efforts. Ultimately, those efforts will fail. We must keep our eyes lifted, to seek his higher kingdom, and to await his coming on the clouds.

If we hope in the Lord, we are content in our place, our person, and our hope that is through Jesus Christ. He gives us peace, confidence, and contentment.
